Candidate Profile:

Jency Mercier Candidate Declaration:

Allow me to introduce myself,

I have been an activist since 2015 and I decided to fight for the environment because I believe that political parties, very often, do not place emphasis on this issue which is essential for the world. Please know that after my involvement in 2 elections in a row (2015 and 2019), I continue to believe that there is still a lot of work ahead of us.

I am running for the presidency because I believe that the Quebec Wing is at a crossroads and that it is important to bring back old or new members. As an activist, I believe green ideas are the most progressive and fair. On the other hand, I, who have campaigned at all levels, municipal, provincial and federal, have not found an equivalent like the Quebec Wing.

With all my experiences as a candidate and political advisor for several parties, I remain attached to the Quebec Wing, and it has remained an example for the federal Green Party. I know the political workings well and I would like to bring new life to the wing for the years of the coming mandate. I encourage you to contact me.

Thank you for your attention.

What relevant experiences and skills do you have that would make you an effective member of this board? Relevant areas of expertise/experience include, but are not limited to: fundraising, finance, campaign organization, previous board membership, communications, interpersonal skills (such as conflict avoidance and collaborative decision-making), legal, governance, human resources:

In order to govern or lead any board of directors, you must first surround yourself with people who are motivated and competent enough. It is not possible to do all the work alone so the team becomes important, it is in a way the pivot, the guideline to bring us towards the goal to achieve. I have experience on boards of directors. The last one I joined is the board of directors of Le Grand Potager in my municipality of Verdun. I was a member and administrator in an NPO. I have held all the positions of member up to President of the board of directors. I administered the municipal greenhouses in order to make municipal facilities more user-friendly and to promote urban agriculture in all its forms in the district. As a greenhouse beekeeper, I can tell you that in order to finance an NPO it is essential to properly administer the money as efficiently as possible in order not to run a deficit, it is not easy. Budgets are tight and it is absolutely necessary to administer public funds with integrity and transparency. This is why I worked with an accountant in the team and an audit at the end of the year became essential to ensure administrative transparency. Please note that I have taken part in numerous talks with the municipality as well as elected officials, I have known almost all of them for years, which facilitates approval for projects at the municipal greenhouses of Verdun. In my work experience, I have held several positions that led me to interview for open positions. I know human resources as an administrator and not just as an HR specialist.

Hello everyone!

I’m glad we can have more time to get to know each other…in writing.

Let me introduce myself, I have been a beekeeper for almost nine years. I am based in the Verdun greenhouses to carry out pollination and popular education. The borough in 2022 honored me and appointed me as ambassador for Verdun’s biodiversity. This honor I share with other citizens who are all as involved as I am in the Verdun community.

Since I have been in the race I continue to think that the presidency is a job that requires more than work, it is a good opportunity to make changes to the functioning of the Quebec wing. Flexibility and consultation are words that guide me in my actions. As the outgoing president of another board of directors for five years, I know that small changes are better than big changes. I am a woman of conviction and action. First, I would like us to think again about changing the way we do things regarding official agents for our EDAs.

I know that some would like a redistribution or an arrangement on the island of Montreal. I believe that after the federal electoral map is redesigned, we may have to make some adjustments as well. I also think that outside of large centers, there are also needs for listening and understanding. If I am appointed to the position of president, the EDAs in the region will be able to count on my support. Without revealing all my thoughts on this subject, it would be good to receive your questions during the debate and to discuss them during this exercise.

Finally, I invite you to write to me and call me as you wish, at reasonable times of course. Also follow on Instagram, I’m already there.

Ms. Jency Mercier, urban beekeeper.

Hello everyone.

We are now in the home stretch of the race. I find that time flies, especially since I have just finished a good cold that I picked had from my work colleagues… Despite everything, I hope that we will have a constructive exchange between now and our meeting. I can’t wait to tell you about the new dynamic that I envision for the Quebec wing. Certain adjustments to the regulations may be considered in order to reflect the future that is emerging before us. To get there, let me tell you that the last two years have been quite difficult with the death of Mr. Michel Sigouin, treasurer of the Quebec wing. We need members like Michel. The commitment of new members and citizen involvement is important in my point of view. This is of course what I will prioritize upon my arrival, if you choose me to lead the Quebec wing. I remained in the party despite difficult times. I am telling you about this because I have also noticed that several associations are currently not active and a change of direction is necessary, as soon as possible. Today, I’m having a little trouble concentrating, please excuse me, as I still have a cold, and I’m continuing to rest so that our meeting is relaxed and beneficial for everyone.
See you soon.

Ms. Jency Mercier – green member
